A Taste of Spring

Wow! I can't believe its only January and yet we're having temperatures in the mid sixties! It's sure making me think about spring. My fingers are itching to dig in the dirt and do some planting. But for now, we're just spending our time taking walks around the property so the little guys can get some fresh air and sunshine.

Goats vs Horses

 To make chores a little easier here on the farm, we decided to put the horses and goats together, and open up the hay barn to give them all 24-hour access. So far they've gotten along great and the horses and goats pretty much just ignore each other.

Baby I is 4 Months Old!

 Our precious Baby I turned four months old on the 21st. I can't believe how big he is- he weighed in at exactly 21 pounds! I knew he was a chunk, judging by the fat rolls that I don't recall the other kids having. Haha! He's 27 inches long. He is just the sweetest baby- is always happy, rarely cries, and sleeps really well.

 

 

Our First Pallet Project: Coat Rack with Shelf

I've had my eye on our big pile of pallets out in the shop building, and showed Handy Husband a few pictures for ideas. Today, he made these wonderful coat racks for me. It turned out to be a super easy job, and pretty cheap too. I think altogether we spent less than $5 per piece: that includes the price of stain, hooks and sandpaper. Not bad at all!

As far as the steps, it was pretty simple. We cut a large section off the end of a pallet, nailed an old piece of 1x6 on the "top" for a shelf, then sanded and stained the whole thing. After it dried we attached the hooks and voila!

Second Birthday: Baby W

Our little man turned two this week. He's growing up so fast! While he's still not really talking very much, he says a few words, like mom, dad, and drink. He also makes specific sounds for certain things such as horse, cow, dog, cat, videos, car, spider. He's very smart and understands everything. He currently weighs 32 pounds, and is 35 inches tall.

Baby I is 2 Months Old!

Sweet little guy is growing so fast. He has nearly doubled his birth weight and now weighs just over 15 pounds. He loves to smile and coo. He's so precious!

Our New (Old) Kitchen

I've spent so much time dreaming of my perfect farmhouse kitchen. I've poured over books and magazines, Google and Pinterest. I've mentally picked out my new cabinets and appliances.

But new cabinets are not in our near-future so we decided to make-do with what we have. And I love the results so much, that I may opt to not get new cabinets.

We're not completely finished yet, and will eventually repaint the ceiling and uncover the original hardwood floors. But, in the meantime I will thoroughly enjoy my new old kitchen.
