Bike Riding Fun

Our big boys are becoming quite the little bikers. We've had to upgrade their bikes a couple of times in the last year as they've outgrown them. They're getting really good at riding through the grass, practising wheelies, making turns, etc. I love that they have so much room to ride without having to worry about cars and such. It's nothing but good old fashioned outdoor fun and exercise!

New Chicks!

Not knowing when I could expect our broody hen to hatch her chicks, I was pleasantly surprised to see these little cuties this morning. Born in the old stroller, which is a favorite nesting place, this momma hen has 9 or 10 little chicks beneath her!

Getting Green

Even with the surprising winter-like weather lately, our little farm is getting greener by the day. I love it!

Clues from the Past

While doing some work in the hallway area, we uncovered some bits of our home's history- old wallpaper, names drawn on the wall beneath the paneling, and my favorite, an entire shredded up newspaper that had become a nest of some sort hidden in the ceiling of the hallway.

Examining the tiny bits of the newspaper was fascinating to me, and we finally discovered that it was from 1905. But my question is, why was a 1905 newspaper in the ceiling of a 1934 house? It's a mystery we may never solve.

Snow in May

Woke during the night and was shocked to see a good couple inches of snow. I believe this is the very first time its ever snowed here in May. Thankfully, its all melted already.

Working on the Boys Room

With the new service and new, larger panel nearly completed, we are able to proceed with more wiring throughout the house.

The boys' room wiring is now done, so we can focus on the cosmetics: a newly painted BLUE ceiling (they want it to look like the sky for their superhero decals), new sheetrock and paint in the closet.

Girls Rooms Update

The girls' rooms are nearing completion, with most of the painting and the closets finished. We still have to paint the floors, and install trimwork throughout, but we're definitely showing progress.

New Electric Service Upgrade

Wow. It's been so crazy around here. Through the generosity of Handy Husband's employer, we were able to get our new 400 amp service put in, complete with new, underground wiring to the house. Now we're just waiting on the electric company to come out and switch their part of it.

We've had some issues with our lines lately, causing outages, and when the electric company came out to fix it, they were quite shocked and concerned with the poor condition of our old line going into the house. It will be such a relief to have some peace of mind once this new service is completed.

Flooding

Our area has had quite a bit of flooding from a storm system that went through a couple nights ago. Here's our road.

Hay Barn Roof Repair

Handy Husband spent the entire weekend reinforcing and patching the section of roof that was ripped off in a tornado about 3 years ago. The hole kept getting bigger and bigger every time we'd get any strong winds.

Trimming Limbs

Handy Husband trimmed back some tree limbs that were hanging over the house and some that were broken and just hanging from the trees.

Baby W is 4 Months Old!

Wow! 4 months already! Baby W is weighing in at 19.5 pounds, and is 27 inches long. He loves to sit up, stand up, and has recently discovered how amazing and fun his toes are. He is still a very happy, sweet little guy.
