One of the joys of free range chickens is finding little surprises like these. The other day, while out doing chores, I found this momma hen with an astonishing number of chicks. She had a secret nest in the goat barn that I didn't even know about. A total of 15 chicks were successfully hatched, but unfortunately, two died after being stepped on by the goats.
